Beautiful. Thanks for putting my thoughts into your words.

My eternal optimism tells me that Malan will transcend this episode and will move on to much bigger things. That level of talent assures it. The sting of having to listen to the artificially elevated critiques of Ms. USA will pass. He handled it much better than I would have, supplanting grace and style for pulling her spine out through her mouth. Oh, did I say that out loud?

Best of luck Malan and thanks Susie. True talent is always a pleasure to encounter.

I did feel badly for him leaving. He was actually starting to seem a little less prickly. I have to think it really did come down to the dress, which did look like a log as Tim said. It was really awful. However, I think the worst dress was by Tatoo Man. This man needs to go, even ahead of Angela "I'm a designer but I don't sketch."

Funny, I only saw the last 10 minutes of the episode, but I immediately liked Malan (and the brown dress -- made me think of chocolate dessert). I haven't seen the opening episode or candidate-selection hour, but with any luck I will. Mum said that Malan was "strange", but I only saw sweetness in his character and a more refined vision in his gown.

??Who was the tatoo guy?? I am so lost. Must get tapes of this season ASAP or indulge in cable ...
